| Alias: |
LAB723
|
| CPT Code(s): |

|
| Preferred Specimen: |
1.0 mL serum |
| Container: |

| Collection Instructions: |

If the specimen is collected in a Plain Red (no additive/gel) tube, transfer the separated serum to a properly labeled plastic transfer tube. Specify specimen type (serum) on transfer tube. |

| Stability: |
Refrigerated: 7 days
Freeze for longer stability |
| Rejection Criteria: |
Hemolysis
Lipemia
Gross bacterial contamination |
| Limitations: |
A serology test alone is not diagnostic for celiac disease. Results should be used in conjunction with other laboratory test results and the clinical presentation of the patient.
A negative result in an untreated patient does not rule out celiac disease. This finding can be explained by selective IgA deficiency. The celiac IgG tests can be used to aid in assessing IgA deficient individuals. |
| Schedule: |
Testing Performed Monday-Friday; Results in 24-48 hours |
| Method: |
Multiplex Bead Immunoassay |
| Clinical Significance: |
The presence of antibodies can aid in the diagnosis of celiac disease. |
| Use: |
3/1/22 lw
Updated 07/23/25 |
| Reference Ranges: |
< 15 U/ml = Negative
>=15 U/ml = Positive
