A Blood Smear Exam will be performed when any CBC parameter falls outside predetermined ranges. A peripheral smear is reviewed by a technologist when flags are generated by the hematology analyzer. If upon review, the technologist finds abnormal WBCs or abnormal RBC morphology, a manual differential is performed. |
